Geiger could produce all by herself, so she started teaching family, friends and women in the neighborhood her craft – the GEIGER Company was born! Very soon the demand was getting larger than what Mrs. So the GEIGER Story started with Barbara producing hats, gloves, scarves and mittens on her manual knitting machine. Luckily she was a gifted knitter and it did not take long until the local community recognized her for these talents. Barbara was a very crafty lady and would always think of some way to earn extra money. On the other hand that meant that the pay for such positions was very low, too low to feed a family of eight. Barbara's husband was holding an administrative post in the local hospital which gave the family a modest apartment to live in, a great benefit in those times.
